Short description: For the selection of the correct lightning current measurement system very important is to have lightning activity historical data for the region. These data can be obtained from the Lightning activity Location Systems (LLS) data base and also from the information obtained from RDC people working on the site.

Short description: To select lightning current measuring sensor, taking into account possibility of the installation on the tower. There are two options:
- Using impulse current transformers
- Using Rogowski coils
Testing and calibration has to be performed in High Voltage / High current laboratory.

Short description: Lightning current data acquisition system has to be carefully selected taking into account that lightning stroke is a very fast transient and has a multiple component. It is necessary to select and test hardware and software of this system.

Short description: To select appropriate data transmission link for the measured data transfer from the tower top to the data acquisition system, taking into account that sensors and acquisition system will be separated for more that 50 meters. Special care has to be taken to avoid interference from the lightning stroke currents and this link.

Short description: Overhead line outages are mainly related to lightning strokes (in some areas in the world almost 70 % of all faults are caused by lightning). In order to improve line lightning performance it is very important to have data for the lightning activity in the region where lines are installed. The main goal of this WP is propose solution for the line lightning performance improvement.
